Discover the mountains together with man’s best friend. During these dog activities, you’ll join the outdoors together with social and well-trained huskies and experience the landscape around Idre Himmelfjäll in a new and memorable way.

The activities are arranged in collaboration with Sälen Dog & Activity, a family-oriented company where the well-being of the dogs and the guests’ experience always come first. Together with the guide Ulrica and her friendly sled dogs, wonderful experiences await for both young and old.

Hike in the mountains together with huskies

On a husky walk you get to join a guided hike together with one of the dogs. You start by meeting the dogs and getting an introduction before you choose a dog together that becomes your hiking companion during the tour.

The dog is attached in a harness to a waist belt so you hike together along marked trails in the mountain landscape. It creates a unique sense of teamwork as the dog helps pull slightly forward during the walk. After the tour, there is plenty of time to pet the dogs, take pictures, and hear more about their lives and adventures.

Husky walks are offered on Thursdays at Idre Himmelfjäll.

Husky Walk with Swedish Fika

Would you like to make the experience even cozier, you can combine your husky walk with a classic Swedish Fika. After the walk, you gather out in nature for homemade fika with a local touch while the dogs are close at hand for cuddling and photos.

It becomes a relaxed moment where you get to hear more about the dogs' personalities and life with sled dogs - while enjoying the mountain environment.

Coal Pasty Evening by the Fire

During the coal pasty evening, you gather at a shelter where a fire is lit and you cook coal pasties together over an open fire. The evening is filled with pleasant conversations, the smell of cooking, and dogs that are happy to keep you company.

You make your own coal pasties in a pan over the fire and eat them with lingonberry jam while coffee, tea, or juice is served. The activity is especially suitable for those who want to experience the mountain feeling without longer hikes.

Kennel Visit – Meet the Whole Pack

During a kennel visit, you get to meet the dogs in their home environment. Here you’ll learn more about life with sled dogs, their personalities, and what everyday life looks like for a team of huskies.
