Snowmobiling is an activity that suits both beginners and experienced drivers. You drive easily along prepared trails while the mountain landscape unfolds around you. For children, it is often a highlight to sit on the back of the snowmobile or ride in a sled and experience the mountains in a whole new way.

Snowmobile ride to reindeer owner Mattias’ hut and his reindeer. Hear the story of the reindeer’s eight seasons and life in Idre Sami Village. Enjoy a warm lunch in the cozy hut, feed and pet the reindeer – and then continue the journey through the sparkling winter landscape.

Now even younger children have the opportunity to join our fantastic reindeer tour. We have adapted the tour for little ones with a shorter snowmobile ride to reindeer owner Mattias and his reindeer. Imagine happy laughter, snow swirling, and reindeer waiting for you. Grill sausages in the cozy lavvu in front of an open fire while we learn more about Sami culture.

NOTE! A child's guardian must accompany them on the tour, as snowmobile riding is part of the activity. To operate a snowmobile, a B driver's license or AM license is required (at least 15 years old when accompanied by a guardian). Please bring proof of license/driver's license.

The guardian is always responsible for the children and decides whether they can sit on the snowmobile behind the rider. Otherwise, a sled should be rented. We recommend renting a 2-seat sled for children under 7 years old, with an adult sitting with them. The snowmobile is equipped with a double seat, handles, and backrest.

Practical Information

The snowmobile tours depart from Idre Himmelfjäll, opposite the ski rental shop unless otherwise stated.

To drive a snowmobile on a guided tour, you need a category B driving licence or an AM licence (moped class 1). The minimum age is 15 when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

If you have a Swedish category B driving licence issued before the year 2000 or a valid snowmobile driving licence, you can rent a snowmobile and drive independently.

PLEASE NOTE! A driving licence or snowmobile driving licence must be presented when renting.

Children can join as passengers together with a parent or legal guardian. For younger children, a sled with an adult sitting with them is recommended.

Helmets and overalls are available to rent on site.

Snowmobiles must be returned no later than 4:00 PM, fully fuelled. We can refuel the snowmobile for you at Skoterbua for an additional charge.
