Fill the days with mountain experiences
The days around New Year’s can be filled exactly as you wish. Start the morning with a few runs on the slopes, take a long lunch, and then head out again when your legs want more. For those who prefer to take it easy, the mountains are there to discover on foot or on cross-country skis.
This winter, even more skiing awaits at Idre Himmelfjäll when we open seven new runs and a new 6-seat chairlift. In total, there are 31 runs to discover for both young and old skiers.
When skiing is done for the day, there may be a warm shower, a sauna, or a quiet moment in front of the fire. New Year’s doesn’t have to be about fitting everything in; most often it’s nice just to be together.

As darkness falls on the last day of the year, the torches are lit and it’s time for one of our most atmospheric evenings at Idre Himmelfjäll.
Our torch slalom is a cherished tradition where we make our way down the slope together on skis or snowboard with torches in our hands. It’s also fine to gather on foot along the slope and experience the mountain lighting up in the winter darkness. A wonderful moment to share together before the new year begins.
New Year’s Eve your way
After a day outdoors, it can be nice to sit down to a delicious dinner at the restaurant and then continue the New Year’s celebration in whatever way suits you best. Perhaps you’ll gather outside for a while, go sledding with the children, or ring in the new year together at the cabin.
However you choose to celebrate, the mountains are waiting right outside the door, both on New Year’s Eve and when the new year begins.
